What is a Tarzan swing?
If you have seen a video of someone stepping off a jungle platform and swinging out over the trees, you have seen a Tarzan swing. It is one of the most talked-about activities in Costa Rica, and one of the least explained. At Vista Los Sueños, our version is a leap, “an exhilarating free fall followed by a powerful swing through the jungle.” The tour lasts 1 hour.
Tarzan swing vs. zipline: what is the difference?
They are both “flying” activities, but they feel different.
- Zipline: you hang from a harness and glide in a mostly straight line along a cable from one platform to the next, with time to look around. Our canopy tour has 10 cables and 12 platforms, and the longest single cable is 1,400 feet.
- Tarzan swing: the moment that counts is the drop. You fall first, then the rope turns that fall into a swinging arc. It is short, intense and over quickly.
If you want views and a long ride, choose the zipline. If you want a quick adrenaline hit, choose the swing. See our zipline canopy tour and our comparison of the best ziplines in Costa Rica.
